(s)low down 2014 - The Slow Food NYC Annual Party!

Thursday, June 5, 2014 (6:00pm to 9:00pm)

Simply the best party of the year! This year's big bash, the (s)low down, will feature artisanal cocktails conceived and created by some of New York's top mixologists, with spirits provided by local distilleries; also:

  • delectable seasonal dishes created by Slow Food NYC Snail of Approval awardees;
  • Duck, nose-to-tail, demonstration with Black Tree
  • Rabbit breakdown demonstration with Back Forty
  • Beer Tasting with Sixpoint Brewery
  • Wine Tasting with Paumanok Vineyard
  • and live foot-tapping bluegrass music.

Our raffle and silent auction will offer one-of-a-kind, food-centric experiences, custom created by Slow Food partners, and not available anywhere else. For a full list of auction items click here.

And finally, there will be an afterparty to keep the night going at a nearby restaurant or bar (location TBA).

This year Slow Food NYC is thrilled to honor Chef Peter Hoffman with our third annual "Snailblazer" Award, for his leadership in the farm-to-table movement and his commitment to a local, sustainable, and fair food system. For over 35 years, Peter has championed a farm-friendly culinary philosophy, starting long before the term 'locavore' became ubiquitous. He continues these practices at his restaurants, Back Forty and Back Forty West, both Slow Food NYC Snail of Approval awardees, with menus conceived around what is in season, fresh, and at peak quality. He has been critical to the establishment of New York's modern Greenmarket system and served on their advisory board for 15 years. He also served on the board of Chefs Collaborative, which encourages restaurants to make sustainable food choices.

Party proceeds will support Slow Food NYC's Urban Harvest Schools and Gardens program. With your support, we are able to reach more than 1,500 public school students in the South Bronx, Harlem, Lower East Side and East New York, and provide hands on education regarding the importance of goodclean, and fair food.
