the (s)low down - The Slow Food NYC Annual Party!

Thursday, April 11, 2013 (
6:00pm to 9:00pm

Simply the best party of the season, the (s)low down features artisanal cocktails by some of the finest mixologists in town, a whole roasted pig, and other seasonal treats created by Slow Food NYC Snail of Approval awardees and other "slow friendly" establishments. The evening's fabulous raffle and silent auction is like no other, offering one-of-a-kind, food-centric experiences.

This year we are thrilled to honor Bill Telepan with our second annual "Snailblazer" Award. At his Snail of Approval restaurant, Telepan, Bill creates menus featuring local, seasonal produce and heritage meats. Beyond simply innovating in his own kitchen, Bill also works tirelessly to help improve the food served to our nation's school children. His involvement with Wellness in the Schools has grown from spending one day a week in a public school cafeteria to promoting the program across the country as well as lobbying Congress to increase funding for child nutrition. With great artisanship and tireless effort, Bill works to ensure that everyone in our community eats better.

Party proceeds will support Slow Food NYC programs including Urban Harvest Schools and Gardens. Through these programs, more than 1,000 public school students in the South Bronx, Harlem, Lower East Side and East New York are learning about the importance of good, clean, and fair food for their health, the health of their families and communities, and the health of our planet.

Don't miss this special evening, put on by the Slow Food NYC board members. We hope you will join us.
