Get Involved with Urban Harvest

Are you a NYC public school teacher or administrator interested in bringing Urban Harvest to your school? Contact us here.

The majority of Slow Food NYC's funding and donations go towards supporting our Urban Harvest programs. What can your donation do?

  • $40 buys 20 kids $2 coupons to use buying healthy, fresh, local produce at a Greenmarket

  • $150 can provide a student-run "farm stand" with fresh, local, and healthy produce to sell in the school and surrounding communities

  • $500 can outfit a "mobile kitchen" that can turn any school room, any time, into a cooking class venue

  • $1,200 can build a raised planting bed in a school garden, and
  • $2,500 can hire a bus to take kids on an upstate educational farm visit.

Your generosity can help us meet our program obligations and expand into more schools across New York City.

There are many opportunities to get involved with Urban Harvest. You can volunteer on garden work days or become a regular volunteer at a specific school. You can also join our Speakers Bureau as a guest speaker or consultant.

To volunteer at Ujima Garden, please sign up for our newsletter to be notified of volunteer days. We organize official volunteer work days in the spring and late summer.
