Get Involved with Urban Harvest

Are you a New York City School Educator or Administrator who is interested in bringing SFNYC Urban Harvest to your school?

Are you the Director of a Summer Camp serving East New York (and surrounding neighborhoods) in Brooklyn who is interested in your children joining us on the farm at Urban Harvest at Ujima during July or August?

If you are, contact us here.

The majority of Slow Food NYC's Urban Harvest funding comes from supporters like you! What can your donation do?.

  • $40 buys 20 kids $2 Greenmarket Buck coupons to use buying healthy, fresh, local produce at a Greenmarket
  • $150 can provide an Urban Harvest in Schools student-run "farm stand" with fresh, local, and healthy produce to sell in the school and surrounding communities on a market day
  • $500 can outfit an Urban Harvest in Schools "mobile kitchen" that can turn any school room, any time, into a cooking class venue
  • $1,000 can provide Urban Harvest at Ujima Student Farmers with lunch, prepared with fresh, seasonal, local, ingredients, for a month during July or August.
  • $1,200 can build a new Urban Harvest raised planting bed, and
  • $2,500 can hire a bus to take Urban Harvest in Schools children on an upstate educational farm visit.

Your generosity can help us meet our Urban Harvest goals, including expanding Urban Harvest to reach more children. Click here to donate now! Or, if you would like to discuss becoming a principal Urban Harvest Funder, contact us here.

There are opportunities to get "hands-on" with Urban Harvest. You can volunteer for a special workday or to become a regular volunteer. If you have a food related specialty - farming, nutrition, food preparation - you may wish to join our Speakers Bureau, to be a guest speaker at an Urban Harvest school or at Urban Harvest at Ujima. Contact us here.
