Astor Wines and Spirits

Astor Wines and Spirits has been a fixture of the New York beverage scene since 1946. They were one of the first major retailers to carve out a space for New York State wines, and for biodynamic and organic wines, and are now one of the best places to shop for the new small‐batch, high quality local spirits that have entered the marketplace.

In addition, Astor is now perhaps the greenest wine store in the world: Their new location, in the landmark De Vinne Press Building (1885), features temperature‐controlled wine storage cooled by two natural gas‐powered micro‐turbines, among the cleanest‐burning engines anywhere. Heat generated by the turbines is recycled into even more energy, so nothing is wasted, and you can enjoy wine stored at the proper temperature and humidity at no cost to the environment.
