Olive oil is one of those products that we can’t produce locally, but we really don’t want to do without, and now we have a great alternative to oil from across the sea. Stonehouse is turning their Silver Ridge Grove into an organic farm. They press the fruit from their 80-year-old trees within 24 hours of picking to produce several blended, several single-varietal and three citrus-infused oils, all certified extra virgin by the California Olive Oil Council, and all wonderful. And now they sell direct to consumers right here in NYC.
Please note: Stonehouse has moved around the corner to 150 Beekman and is now called provisions. They’ve added a variety of local and artisanal foods and household products, and will be the drop-off point for the Seaport CSA in partnership with Norwich Meadows Farm.
